FRAUD I CORONAVIRUS FRAUD SCHEMES I COVID-19 SCAMS – Fraudulent Coronavirus “Pop-Up” Testing Sites
April 5, 2020
The FBI and AG are investigating the newest coronavirus scam, which includes fraudulent “Pop-Up” testing sites. Most recently in Kentucky, there were two pop-up testing sites that claimed to be medical companies affiliated with coronavirus testing labs. Not only were these representations false, however these pop-up testing sites charged as much as $200 per “test” and exposed individuals to a greater risk of harm by failing to change gloves and masks between each test.
As stated in our last article, the coronavirus pandemic has unleashed unprecedented numbers of scams. Fraudulent testing sites are the most recent to surface. Given the vast increase of fraud claims, beware of any “pay for service” type scams related to Covid-19 or coronavirus testing.
