In our series of blogs titled “FAQs Car Accident” or “Frequently Asked Car Accident Questions”, a common question posed to our Car Accident Attorneys include: “What Do I Do if I was Injured in a Car Accident”?  If you were injured in a Motor Vehicle Accident, this is a checklist of things you must do in response:

1. First and foremost, you need to check on all parties at the scene of the car accident. Before taking any action to check to see if everyone involved is ok.
2. Second, if there are any visible injuries call 911 and make sure emergency personal report to the scene of the car accident promptly.
3. Third, take photographs of the scene of the motor vehicle collision and any bodily injuries on yourself and others.
4. Fourth, ask for contact information for all people involved, specifically seek names, phone numbers, email addresses, identification cards, insurance information, license plates and vehicle information.
5. Fifth, identify any witnesses at the scene of the auto collision and ask for their contact information.
6. Sixth, do not delay if you were injured in an auto accident seek out medical treatment promptly.
7. Seven, call a personal injury attorney immediately so they may report the auto accident to your insurance carrier and the at-fault party’s insurance carrier. If you were injured in a car accident do not contact insurance carriers without legal representation.  Insurance adjusters will pressure you into providing a sworn statement and making a conclusive statement as to injuries although such statements are premature at the time.
