PERSONAL INJURY I CAR ACCIDENTS I FAQ CAR ACCIDENTS I FREQUENTLY ASKED CAR ACCIDENT QUESTIONS – Injured by a Drunk Lyft Driver
June 11, 2020
Two LYFT passengers in Burbank, California are suing LYFT after their LYFT driver refused to let them out of the vehicle, child-locked the doors and crashed into another driver. When the passengers were picked-up they smelled tobacco, however nothing seemed concerning until the LYFT driver started driving. After the LYFT driver and pulled from the curb he exhibited “weird” behavior and the passengers noticed a slur in his speech. Ultimately the passengers believed that the LYFT driver was intoxicated and eventually crashed into oncoming traffic. Both LYFT passengers sustained personal injuries in the car accident which was caused by the intoxicated LYFT driver.
The drunk LYFT driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and made a dangerous left turn. Injured passengers were yelling “stop” immediately prior to the collision, despite their warnings, the LYFT driver was unable to react in time, colliding into oncoming traffic. The LFYT driver was so intoxicated at the time of the car accident he was unaware that he caused a collision and refused to let the passengers out of the vehicle, declaring “You are my passengers. You are my passengers. It’s gonna be fine”.
Well after the collision, the injured passengers were able to get out of the vehicle and the LYFT driver fled the scene. The LYFT passengers whom sustained personal injuries filed a lawsuit against LYFT seeking personal injury damages and have alleged causes of action for reckless endangerment, negligence and misrepresentation against the rideshare company.
